For this correspondent, the successful #LetFansIn campaign was a second return to watching football, having been lucky enough to take in Durham United and Durham FC friendlies before the FA put a stop to things. With a multitude of options, a late decision was made

FA Cup draws

Despite the uncertainty that prevails around the return of fans to non-league grounds, the FA have today published the first two rounds of fixtures for the revamped 2020/21 FA Cup. The extra preliminary round is due to be played 1 September 2020 and the preliminary round on 12 September 2020.

The 2020/21 version of the FA Cup will see no replays taking place with all ties to be decided on the day.

Durham FC 3-6 Darlington Town

A Tuesday night in Framwellgate Moor saw Durham FC host fellow Wearside League outfit Darlington Town in front of a healthy crowd of over 70. Sadly, during the course of the game, an FA announcement means this could be the last for a while, more of which later.

Scheduled for a 18:30 start, the clock ticked past half past with echoes of Scotland v Estonia as only Darlington Town lined up on the pitch. The ref suggested to the Durham FC sideline that they might want to get their players in situ.
