Preseason round up

As well as the Durham United victory over Shotton Colliery, a number of other friendlies took place around County Durham.

Esh Winning took on South Moor AFC at West Terrace in a close game. Esh took the win with a first half penalty won and taken by Callum Boakes.

Shildon took on Sunderland West End at Dean Street in a hastily arranged fixture. Shildon ran out 4-0 winners in a behind closed doors fixture with two goals in each half.

Consett took on Newcastle Blue Star at Belle Vue recording a 3-0 victory with two goals from Dale Pearson and one from new signing Carl Lawson.

Darlington Town recorded an emphatic 7-0 win against Hurworth Albion, banging in five second half goals.

FC Hartlepool shared six goals with Ryhope Colliery Welfare. Kieran Voss bagged all the goals for FC in a game that was marred by a serious injury to Mike Snowdon. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Mike.

Finally, newly formed Durham FC took on their own under 18s squad in their maiden game. At half time it was 2-2 before the seniors took control, running out 7-2 winners. Their next game is on Tuesday against Darlington Town who will offer a sterner test at King George Playing Field.
